Primary closure versus open membrane technique in augmentation o deficient alveolar ridges

      Background: Funakoshi first reported “Open Barrier Membrane” technique by using non-expanded, high-density d-PTFE membrane in 2005. d-PTFE membranes are impenetrable for bacteria invasion because of its surface characteristic and surgeon can left the d-PTEF membrane intentionally exposed during bone grafting procedure (1,2).
